Banjos accommodation Mansfield is simple, dignified and likeable – much like its namesake AB ‘Banjo’ Paterson, Australia’s most famous and much-loved bush poet who wrote our unofficial national anthem Waltzing Matilda as well as the poem The Man From Snowy River, which later became box office hit, filmed on location in the surrounding High Country.
Set on five acres and surrounded by beautiful gum trees and farmland, Banjos features 6 spacious, self-contained Studio Apartments and 4 comfortable Two-Bedroom holiday Units, a solar heated pool, tennis court, basketball hoop, BBQ facilities and peaceful garden settings – all within 2.5km of the town centre.

]]>The accommodation is embedded with a long history dating back to the 1870’s where Rabbit Hunters, Shearers, Cooks and workers would live and stay at this working farm that was originally thousands of acres.
The cottages have been restored, there is a common kitchen, male and female bathroom amenities and a fantastic camp fire area.
The rooms are clean, simple and rustic and at $45 per night including breakfast it is the most affordable accommodation along the trail.
The Quarters sleep 13 in total but there is always heaps of room for tents or camper vans as well.
The Shearer’s Quarters are located right opposite the trail on the right hand side, exactly 10kms north of Merton.
If you are looking for an Authentic Australian experience with an historical Aussie feel or traveling with a group, we highly recommend this unique and charming place.
The Accommodation is pet friendly and is ideal for horse riders and bike riders

Delatite is a small family run winery that was established in 1982 by Robert and Vivienne Ritchie and now run by their son David. Specialising in cool climate wines, especially white aromatics, it is sited on a picturesque rise overlooking the vineyards toward Mt Buller in North-east Victoria. As part of families who have been farming in Australia since the early nineteenth century, David and Catherine are committed to sustainable agricultural practices and winemaking with integrity. Since 2002 they’ve followed Biodynamic practices across all areas of vineyard operations and also believe in minimalist winemaking. Please drop in to see the Cellar Door and Larder at 26 High Street Mansfield when you’re next in the district. We’d be delighted to show you our beautiful part of the world and the chance to taste our award-winning wines along with some simple but delicious food. Tours of the winery can still be made, but only by appointment. Again awarded Five Red Stars in James Halliday’s 2013 Australian Wine Companion, released at the end of July 2012. ]]>In the hub of the Yarck Township ‘The Yarck General Store’ is famous for it’s pies. The General store is bike friendly and is open 7 days a week. They have a wide range of delicious pies, cold drinks and great coffee. Most importantly, they are a bike friendly tourism store.
The Yarck Hotel/Pub is a friendly, country pub that serve hardy meals. The Hotel has a special $20 lunch menu and is Bike Friendly. Don’t miss pot and parma on Thursday nights, it’s always very popular with the locals. The pub caters for functions, events and parties. The Yarck Hotel is open Wed – Sun visit www.yarckhotel.com.au for more details T: 5773 4226
Located in Yarck the ‘The Giddy Goat Café’ has had MANY BAD REVIEWS from Bike riders, the owner is often rude to bike riders and it is recommended that you have your lunch at the Yarck General Store. We have also had many complaints about the hygiene of their accommodation. And the owner refuses to take Rail Trail Bike Tour bookings.

Mia Mia Tearooms are housed in a lovely heritage-listed building that indeed started life as the Mia Mia Tearooms back in the 1880s. With its gracious facade, sunlight streaming through the windows, you could almost think you were still back in that era as you mix with locals who have quickly come to regard the tearooms as a relaxed meeting place.
The menu of homemade offerings includes good pies, cakes, soups and terrific platters of local produce such as smoked trout, local cheese and olive oil. There are always several good vegetarian and gluten-free options for main courses and cakes for dessert.
